The
Washington City Recreation
Center, (I refer to as the
clubhouse) is 110,000 square
feet. It houses Utah's largest
indoor aquatic center, including
lap pools, a lazy river, the kid
favorite bucket, splash slides,
and huge water slide. There are 3
gymnasiums, a climbing rock wall,
weight and cardio rooms, and full
service reception center. But

Like many transplants to the St.
George area, Tim and Gina came to
Southern Utah because of a job and the
excitement of raising their three
daughters in a town that valued families.
Although both had been coming through St.
George since they were teenagers, they
didn’t know the history or beauty of
the area.
Gina started teaching her children about
the history of Washington City and St.
George. Tim started the Leadership Dixie
Program. By accident, they learned that
Samuel Jefferson Adair, one of the
founding fathers of this area was Tim’s
Great Great Uncle. Then they started
meeting the people of Southern Utah.
They discovered the pioneer spirit is
alive. Home based business was a way of
life, and many people had more than one
business. People were not afraid to try
new jobs, or start over with a new
career. In fact, Tim and Gina also owned
more than one business in Las Vegas. Gina
owned a computer consulting firm for
twenty years. Tim owned a health
insurance agency in Nevada for 10 years.
When Tim accepted the position with
Ameriplan to build the Physician Network,
it offered them the opportunity to
relocate to Southern Utah. Like others,
Tim and Gina experienced the slowdown of
the economy. They saw their friends move
back to Las Vegas. They saw long time
residents of St. George leave the area in
search of work. Gina started teaching
eBay classes at Dixie State College
Community Education, and now works part
time for the Smith Computer Center as a
Computer Instruction Specialist.
In February, it happened!
Tim’s position with Ameriplan ended,
and they were facing the same situation
as their friends. But that pioneer spirit
is genetic. Tim printed out his resume
and told Gina, it is time to try
something new.
He is a commissioned salesperson and has
been for over 30 years. He often told
Gina he would like to sell cars. He has
never sold cars before and has always
sold intangible products like medical
insurance. Gina told him to try Stephen

the area.
Guess what? Tim Merrell the Dental Guy is

cars, and having fun. So if you need a

Of course. Tim and Gina won't stop there.
Tim has his insurance license in the
